Kitten feeding chart by age

How much formula a bottle baby needs at each age — mL per feeding, how many feedings a day, and the daily total — from newborn through weaning at eight weeks.

The quick rule

Feed roughly 8 mL of formula per ounce of body weight per day (about 180 mL per kg), split evenly across the day's feedings. A 200 g kitten (7 oz) needs about 56 mL a day — around 7 mL per bottle at eight feedings.

Amounts reflect commonly published neonatal kitten care benchmarks and are written for BottleBaby; no chart from another organization is reproduced. They assume a standard kitten milk replacer mixed to its package directions. Every kitten differs — this page is general information, not veterinary advice; ask your vet or rescue about your kittens.

Feeding basics that matter more than the number

Pair this with weight

Formula amounts are driven by body weight, so check the kitten age & weight chart for week-by-week gram ranges and daily gain targets.

Common questions

How much formula should a kitten drink per day?

The standard guideline is about 8 mL of formula per ounce of body weight per day (roughly 180 mL per kilogram). Divide that total by the number of feedings for the amount per bottle.

How often should I bottle feed a kitten?

Newborns under a week old eat every 2 hours around the clock. By 2 weeks it stretches to every 3 hours, by 3–4 weeks every 4–5 hours, and weaning kittens move to 4 meals a day.

How do I know if a kitten had enough?

A well-fed kitten has a rounded (not tight) belly, settles and sleeps after eating, and gains 10–15 grams a day. Daily weight is a more reliable check than mL alone.

Can I overfeed a bottle kitten?

Yes. Overfeeding causes diarrhoea and bloating, and forcing a full kitten risks aspiration. Stop when they stop suckling rather than pushing to hit a number.

Log every bottle instead of remembering

BottleBaby keeps one log per kitten: mL fed, formula type and how it went, with a running total for today.
